Gain knowledge on improving footwork and body movement to master the climbing techniques required to tackle the sustained, steep ice in the WI4 to WI5 range. A key component to the sport of ice climbing is knowing how, when, and where to build anchors
while on a climb. Learn the art of creating solid anchors that will withstand the highest forces
that a climbing team can create. Build your confidence in venturing out on your own on ice
climbs and be able to make effective choices about belay locations and build safe and efficient
top rope anchors, V-Threads, etc.. Anchors (recommended gear: 2-3 ice screws 13cm-16cm, 1 x 22cm screw, v-thread tool, 2-3
non-lockers, 2-3 lockers, 1-2 pieces anchor material (Cordelette, 120-240cm sewn clings, etc.) (Cost:$50) |

This class is designed to introduce ice climbers to the gear and techniques associated with
beginning to leading on ice. Students will learn proper use of gear and equipment and will be
shown different techniques and when to use them. Upon entering this class, the student must
have knowledge of the basic gear and techniques associated with ice climbing. Comfortable TR
WI3. Recommended gear: 3 -5 screws, 3-5 draws. (Cost: $50) |
